From March 8-13 two REG regional tourism initiatives exhibited at ITB Berlin – the largest annual travel industry event.
For the Western Balkans this is the third time the region is presented through a joint regional stand. This year 12 companies from the region, led by two regional initiatives: the Via Dinarica Alliance and the Western Balkans Geotourism Network. The interest for the region has visibly grown, and companies have scheduled individual meetings throughout the ITB trade days. Over the new two days the regional product will have two presentations as part of the ITB PowWow program at the Responsible Tourism Stage of the Adventure Travel Hall. One presentation will be introduce the new Bear Watching in Macedonia – the wildlife preservation program developed through the REG Learning by Doing model that allows visitors to get involved in conservation activities.
The Via Dinarica Alliance team will present the product available and the now developments planned for 2017-2018. This Via Dinarica Mega trail – Europe’s newest long-distance trekking route is one of National Geographic Traveler’s “Best of the World” Destinations for 2017. Together with the presentation at the Responsible Tourism stage, the Alliance team will hold workshops that will each focus on specific sections of the trail.
ITB 2017 is the first time the adventure operators from Armenia and Georgia have a joint stand – Caucasus Adventure - exhibiting at a major trade event. The participating companies offer a wide selection of adventure programs that include hiking, climbing, horseback riding, rafting cycling to caving, skiing, to gastronomy based and cultural programs.
The joint presentations are providing an opportunity to establish new contacts in the market, and also build cohesion and cooperation within each region that is recognized by the markets.
