On November 15 and 16, 2018, REG supported the organization of the Technical Cooperation Workshop for Single Window Development in the Western Countries organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), EU DG TAXUD and Macedonian Customs.
Participants at the event were representatives of Customs Administrations of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia. In addition, organizers invited the representatives of 12 Macedonian institutions that issue licenses through the national single window for export-import licenses EXIM.
The main objective of the event was to inform the participants from Macedonia and the region of the latest initiatives regarding the Single Window development in the European Union and the related activities for standardization and harmonization of data based on UNECE and WCO international standards. As most of the countries from the region are envisaging implementation of Single Window projects for cross-border trade in the near future, during the discussion they all agreed that it will be of utmost importance to coordinate their national activities with the work carried out at EU level.
